Friday July 13, 2007 (11:50pm) More crap (while watching Scrubs on my PC) Today I went to my clinic visit at the SCCA LTFU clinic, and it was there that I found out that the pain in my leg that I've been having for about a week now is all the doing of a simple blood clot. Not quite the news I was hoping for, but still not all that suprising, considering what I've been through. I had originally come in to the clinic to get my vaccinations, but when I told them about my leg and the Doppler test I had scheduled on Monday they said they could do the test then and there. They basically did an ultrasound on my leg and determined that there is a clot formed in my left leg, just above the knee. The doctors talked amongst themselves and decided to put me on blood thinners. I had to get a blood thinner shot right then and there and then go fill a Rx so I can give myself shots, twice a day for about a week. It's pretty much the same as when I had to take the neupagen shots several years ago. I also will start taking blood thinner pills, which it looks like I'll be taking for at least the next six months. I'll also have to get my blood monitored more often to adjust the blood thinners appropriately and I will be at a greater risk for bruising and bleeding. I also need to eat less vitamin K, as it can affect blood clotting. It's kind of a bummer, but the truth is that it could be worse. I could be in more pain and the clot could have been somewhere worse in my body. I just hope that the clot and the pain in my leg will go away and I never get another clot. Unfortunately, I'm not exactly running the show so it's not quite up to me. Of course, there's always room for improvement when it comes to my diet and daily activities, so this might just be another one of those moments where I should think about making some lifestyle changes. But I'm a creature of habit, so we'll see. As I said before, I also got my vaccinations today, which is kinda cool but also kinda weird. I haven't had any bad reactions, but I also feel kinda weird after all those shots. Anyway, I am now officially immunized against Polio, Tetanus, Hepatitis A, Pneumococcus, Diphtheria, and Haemophilus. To my surprise (and the doctors) I seem to already be immunized against Hepatitis B. They really couldn't explain it. For all I know, I got it from Johnny Bone Marrow. Either way, I'm juts glad I'm protected against it. That's all I got for now. Later, Kyle
