Wednesday October 17, 2007 (01:59pm) As a matter of fact, I AM in a bad mood. How could you tell? (while listening to Somewhat Damaged by Nine Inch Nails) -Well, I got the results of the MRI on my neck and shoulder, and it turns out the pain I'm experiencing is from a torn rotator cuff. After looking up what the hell the rotator cuff is, it makes perfect sense, considering how it hurts. Of course, it then begs the question "How the hell did I tear it?" The answer? I have no idea. I didn't do anything specifically that caused the injury, so I'm to assume that it developed slowly over time. Perhaps I overused my right shoulder in trying to protect my left hip this past year or so. Considering all the leaning, lifting, carrying, hoisting myself up out of chairs and bed, upper body exercising, and sleeping on my right side, it's possible the combination caused the tear. Or maybe it was something else. Maybe it was all the packing and moving I recently did. Perhaps I over-cheered when the Bengals won their only game this season. Maybe Toby Keith got tired of all the stupid jokes and put a hit out on my shoulder. All I do know is that I see an orthopedic tomorrow and he'll be the one to determine what needs to be done about it. It's possible that it could be treated without surgery, but knowing my luck they're gonna have to cut me open and crochet by cuff back together so I can properly rotate my shoulder again. As always, I'll let you know more when I know more. -The Bengals lost. So did the Raiders. Now that's out of the way and we can all move on. -I still hate the Seattle public transit system. Yesterday I mapped out a route from home to the hospital just in case I can't get a ride for tomorrows appointment. The route said to start out at "Duvall Ave NE & 6th Ave". Being new to the area, my first task was to find this Duvall Ave. The Metro website doesn't have maps on the site, only specific route maps, and the MT908 bus showed a Duvall Ave on their route. But alas, I was not able to find Duvall Ave online. I checked MapQuest and Yahoo! Maps and neither could find a Duvall Ave in Renton. When I searched for the intersection of Duvall Ave & 6th, it kept showing me 138th Ave. I could only assume that the answer was that 138th Ave IS Duvall Ave, but once again could find no comfirmation online. So, I had to actually walk to the intersection myself to find out. The Metro site said it was a breezy one minute walk, but it took me over 10 (But to be fair, even if I walk half as fast as a normal person, they only undershot the walk time by a factor of 5). And when I got there, sure enough the cross street was Duvall Ave and not the imfamous 138th. That would have been fine, but Duvall/138th is a 4-lane road with no crosswalks in sight. If I could run I'd have a chance at crossing the road, but not with a lame hip like mine. So, it looks like that route is pretty much a bust. There's another, longer route I can take to the hospital by going over to Union Ave, so now I'll check that one out. The whole thing just really makes me miss Portland's Tri-Met bus system. -It's official: I hearby find the ABC network as totally lame. Or, as my mother would say, "it's the new CBS". Even CW and UPN are more entertaining in my eyes. And I know, I know... You're all out there thinking: "Kyle! You just don't understand! My favorite show [insert crappy ABC show] is on ABC! How dare you! My feelings are hurt and I deserve to be fully compensated! Get the guys from Boston Legal on the phone right now!" Well, here's the facts as I see them in the form of a top ten list: 10.) They have the lamest weekend morning programming 9.) Step By Step 8.) Dancing With The "Has-Beens" 7.) They dropped The Critic back in the mid-90s 6.) They have the lamest weekday late night programming 5.) Dirty Sexy Money: Not only a horrible title, but a blatant Arrested Development wanna-be 4.) The Bachelor 3.) Cavemen 2.) Hannah Montana is Billy Ray Cyrus's daughter 1.) No more Monday Night Football -So how much did you pay for the new Radiohead album? I didn't pay a damn thing. Of course, that's only because I didn't download it. Don't know what I'm talking about? Check this out. I guess I should go before I piss off you guys any more than I already have. Later, Kyle
