Monday February 12, 2007 (04:35pm) Who? Purr? Hooper? (while watching Arrested Development on my PC) A few weeks ago I saw Star Wars I: The Phantom Menace on TV. So, in the past two days, I've watched the rest of the Star Wars movies in order. So, here's some general wonderments about the movies I thought I'd share with you. -I like the extended versions of Episodes IV-VI better than the originals, with the exception of the very ending of Return Of The Jedi. The song the Ewoks dance to is completely different and they digitally added Hayden Christensen to the scene of dead Jedi's. It made sense, but I thought that was kinda lame. -Casting Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi in Episodes I-III was a great choice. He totally nailed the role. -Casting Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker in Episodes II & III was not. I don't know who they should have cast, but I don't think it should have been him. -Natalie Portman did not do a very good job of acting in Episodes I-III. I don't care how attractive she is. Well, that's not entirely true... But I still think they could have got someone better to play Queen Amidala. -Samuel L. Jackson was awesome as Mace Windu. Then again, he always comes through. Proof-positive that Sammy J can act any role he damn well pleases, even in outerspace. -Jar Jar Binks was not the most annoying thing in Episode I. I give that award to a one Jake Lloyd. -Are people smarter in outerspace or do they just have better school systems than we do? Because everyone in Star Wars seems to know, like, 500 different alien languages and they act like it's no big deal. Perhaps it's just the ultimate testiment to how much more a society is academically capable of when TV and video games aren't a constant distraction. Hmm... -How come all the doctors in Star Wars seem to be droids? It's, like, humans in outerspace aren't skilled enough to learn internal medicine yet they have no problem engineering, building, programming, and maintaining machines that can. -In the beginning of Star Wars: A New Hope, Obi-Wan doesn't seem to remember R2-D2 when he first sees him, yet they were together for a considerable amount of time in Episodes I-III. -I know he's kind of a heartless bastard, but I'd like to think that Darth Vader would remember C-3PO, the droid he himself built as a child, when he saw him in The Empire Strikes Back. -In Empire, Obi-Wan tells Luke to go see Yoda, his old Jedi Master. But according to Episodes I-III, Yoda was never Obi-Wan's master. Qui-Gon Jinn was Obi-Wan's master. And at the end of Episode II, Yoda tells Obi-Wan how to speak with his dead master Qui-Gon so he can continue to study more under him. -The introduction of R2-D2's rocket-flying ability in Episode II is proposterous. Need I count how many times R2 could've used this ability in the following episodes? How about when he falls in the lake in Dagobah? How about when he falls off Jabba the Hut's sand ship on Tatoine? -Do you think Darth Vader has to take off his suit to go to the bathroom? Later, Kyle
