Wednesday June 13, 2007 (10:40am) “There's a little black spot on the sun today. It's the same old thing as yesterday.” (while listening to King Of Pain by The Police) -This last weekend I ended up going down to Portland with Karly. It was spur of the moment. She was going down cause her friend Melody had her baby, I went down so I could hang out with friends. -I got into Portland mid Friday and was able to meet up with my cohorts at the Organic Brewfest at Overland Park in North Portland. Luke was preforming with his band, so he was there. Cassy, Casey, and Violet were also there, as well as Jared, Luke's parents and their daughter Meilin, and Luke's new girlfriend Sarah, whom I'd never met before. It was pretty darn cool. -On Saturday, Luke, Casey, Cassy, and I went out to eat at Mike's Drive In and then bowling at Kellog Bowl in Milwaukee. I bowled a 74 and a 79. I basically just stood there and threw the ball. I had no follow through on the lower half of my body. Considering that, I guess you could say I did ok, but I think I sucked. When I use to bowl, 150 was my goal, anything under 120 was embarrasing, and under 100 was unacceptable. I guess I could practice more, but with no follow through there's not much of a point to it. I just need more time to strengthen my left leg so I can bowl somewhat normal. -On Saturday night I stayed the night out at the "Hippie Farm" with Luke. The people who live there are nice and it's a great piece of land. We just kinda hung out and talked all night. And since they live off the land as much as they can, I had farm fresh eggs twice while I was out there. It was good stuff. -On Monday I had my first appointment at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, the Long Term Follow Up clinic for the Hutch. I didn't know this beforehand, but it was one of those days where I had an itinerary and was there all day long taking tests. Karly went with me and we were both at the SCCA from 9am to 5pm. It was kinda lame. -They had to go over my medical history and take a bunch of tests, but basicaly everything's still the same. The only changes were to my medications. They want me to take acyclovir twice a day instead of once and they want me to take a new Rx for bactrim that will be everyday instead of twice on Mondays & Thursdays. As far as the tests go, all I know so far is that my pulmanary function is normal. And I could've told you the same without the test. -They did bring up several points for consideration, like my teeth, my eyes, and my vaccinations. Basically, I told them how my eyes have been bothering me and they offered to set me up with an optomitrist. Also, it's due time I see a dentist, so they recommended that as well. And they seem to be more proactive about getting me my vaccinations in the coming months than OHSU ever seemed, so that's good. -They also noted that my cholesterol was high (282) and they reccommended that I speak with a nutritionist. I'd always told myself that I would eat willy-nilly until a doctor told me not to, and this is the closest that I've had to a doctor telling me that I need to eat better. Changing my diet will be really hard, and I doubt I'll learn a whole lot from speaking to a nutritionist, but I have a lot of questions for them and I am willing to try and cut down on the bad foods I eat. That's about all I can do. There's more I could ramble about, but I'm done for now. Later everyone, Kyle
