“I'll not lose my faith. It's an inside job today. I know this one thing well...”
(while watching Colts vs Patriots on TV)

-The Saints lost to the Bears in the NFC Championship. It was quite the bummer watching my team go down in the Conference Championship game. It brings up one of the immortal sports questions: Is it better to watch your team lose in the playoffs than to have them not make it at all? There's good arguements for both sides and I have yet to find a true, solid answer to that question. Every fan wants their team to reach the post season, but playoff loses always hurt the most. Anyway, I am once again left with only the obvious notion that there is always next year to get me through what I'm sure will be a long and painfully bitter NFL offseason.

-Yesterday my mom and Karly came down and spent the day with me. It was pretty cool. They are the first people to come visit me since the surgery. We played some trivia games, went out to Subway, took me to a video game store so I could use my $50 gift certificate, and went grocery shopping for me. My mom also hooked me up with an adjustable shower head and a mat for the tub. Anyway, thanks again Mom and Karly. I love you guys and I had a lot of fun.

-Getting back to more depressing NFL news, I wrote out a parody of the song Mr. Bright Side by The Killers that helped me deal with the Bengals missing the playoffs this year. It was something I just started going over in my head and finally sat down and hammered out. It describes how the Bengals lost the last game of the season by missing a 39-yard field goal at the end of regulation that would have won the game. The game went into overtime where the Steelers won on a TD pass, thus knocking the Bengals out of the playoff race. I call this song Missed It Wide Right.

"Coming out of the 4th, and now we're doin' overtime.
Gotta, gotta be down because we wanna win.
It started out with a kick; how did it end up like this?
It was only a kick... (Just a short, little kick...)

And now they're moving the ball, and our defense is lag.
And now we're trying to blitz, but then the ref throws a flag.
Now they're throwing a pass, and my stomach is sick,
Cause we're all out of time.

And they're pumping their fists, now.
They head off the field, now.
 Shouting "We win!"

And I just can't look, it's killing me,
 And taking control...

Jealousy. Not how it was suppose to be.
 Playing in this overtime,
Choking at the worst of times.
But it's just the price we pay, when things come down to a single play.
Open up my teary eyes, cause he missed it wide right."

 That's it for now. Hasta,

 Kyle
