“Take it away from eyes... Get it out of my sight...”
(while listening to Rosetta Stoned by Tool)

-Well, I got my eye surgery done yesterday. It wasn't as bad as a lot of other procedures I've had to endure, but it still wasn't very fun at all. I'm not in a whole lot of pain right now, but hurts some and there is definately a lot uncomfortableness. Right now I have a plastic protector taped over the eye, but I go in today to talk to the doctor and I'll probably get to take it off. They also gave me about three different kinds of eye drops to take that I'll have to start taking today, as soon as the doctor tells me all about them and when to take them and how much. All in all, I guess the surgery wasn't so bad, especially considering all the other things I've been through.

-This whole writers strike that's bringing my favorite TV shows to a production halt is starting to become a real bother. Most of the shows I watch (Office, 30 Rock, Earl, Scrubs, etc) will only have a few more new episodes before they go into reruns, which is lame for a homebody like myself. And let's face it: strikes makes everyone look bad. I don't remember the last time the writers went on strike, but I remember the NFL strike of '87, and as a fan I felt it was bad for everyone: the owners, the players, the coaches. the fans, and the sport of football itself all suffered. And if I had to pick a side, there's no debateing that I would choose the writers side. In the context of a sports metaphor, I look at the writers the same as the coaches; they are the unsung heroes of the industry that do their work behind the scenes and don't get paid as much as the "real" stars do, but are just as important if not more so to the entire process. And just as I think that sports coaches deserve a bigger slice of the pie, I think writers do as well. It's just unfortunate that it has to come all the way to a striking halt to get resolved. Hopefully it's over very soon.

-It looks like I may have trouble trying to go back to school here in Washington since I haven't lived here for at least a year. I already know it would cost more, but I don't know if I'll even be able to get financial aid because of the same reason. I'm gonna look into it, and if it is true that I won't qualify for financial aid, then I think my backup plan is to work towards some sort of certificate in the computer industry. Probably not an MCSE, but maybe like my A+ Certification. It's been a few years since I was doing tech support, so I'm a little out of the loop, but I'm sure with some practice and studying I can get my A+. It's not much, but at least it would be something.

-In a seemingly rare event this football season, the Bengals did not lose on Sunday. They beat the Ravens in Baltimore, sweeping them for the season. This usually would bring joy throughout the southern Ohio/northern Kentucky/my bedroom regions, but since the Bengals are still only 3-6, there's still not much to cheer about. Unless they can get back to 6-6 they really don't have much of a chance this season. Even still, I'm right there behind them. Go Bengals!

-I've been playing the game Xenogears on the Playstation. It's an RPG that came out about 10 years ago. I got the game in a deal with my old roommate Jason M. He owned originally owned the game, but when we stopped living together he got the Playstation 2 we bought together, and I got the TV we bought together, his old Playstation, and Xenogears. So I've owned the game for about 8 years and never played it. But now that I have, I wish I would have played it sooner. It's a really good game and I predict that by the time I finish it, it will be in my “Top Ten Favorite Video Games Of All Time” list. You just wait and see.

That's all I got for now. It turns out that typing is a lot harder with only one eye as my depth perception is a little off. Anyway, later everyone,

 Kyle
